I had to give a speech today in class.  It was pretty nervracking, not just because I suffer from anxiety attacks, but because it was in a general education class, so all of the people were people I didn’t know.

So I started off my speech by playing off my name.  At first the people were like “Huh?”  Because I introduced myself, and played off the word “Miles.”  So everyone was confused about why I was talking about how in the past I was asked if I ran fast or traveled a lot because my name was Miles, until I brought up my topic, which was that the Internet at our school is slow and some of the services should be outsourced.

A lot of the people caught the jokes in my slides.  One kid commented that he was sad no one noticed that I had an acronym for E-mail (Electronic Mail And Incandescent Lights).  I got a few laughs, but I’m not sure how well I did due to my anxiety.

But yeah, I’m hoping I got a decent grade.

  1. I hope you do too. :-)

I’m not good at public speaking either. Presentation seems more important than content, though, hey?
